When my best is not enough. "When my best is not enough." I have learnt to take things as it is. This means (if you read between the lines) that I didn't used to take things as it is in the past. For me it was an insecurity issue, and very possibly the desire for perfection in something that cannot be perfected in just one or few attempts. You may call it the pursuit of idealism. Whereas now, when I've done my best, I acknowledge that it IS my best, even though it may still not be up to other people's expectations. This doesn't mean I'm stubborn or have no desire to improve...it simply means I don't take myself TOO seriously. Taking myself seriously is enough, no need to be TOO serious. Honestly, what else can I do about it if I'm limited by my abilities at that point in time? I can choose at that point to be joyful and persevere, or worried and get stuck. If this thing is something you are passionate about seeing coming to pass, all the worse being worried and getting stuck would be right? Thus, choose your response to situations like that wisely. And if you are a believer of Christ, know that all He requires of you is you doing your best. Potential got to do with comparing with YOURSELF. The world is ranking up things and people...comparing here and there; even the education system is like that in Singapore. But all He wants and expects of you is to unleash your FULL potential. When you do that, your performance may be inferior to some people or superior to others, but that totally doesn't matter to Him (and me) at all! So, just go ahead (I'm constantly reminding myself with this as well) to do whatever it takes to unleash the full potential in you. Don't waste even an ounce of your God-given talent(s)!
