Dramas I'm catching right now. My life will never be right without dramas. Hehehe. I recommend the following 3 dramas. If you hate the typical storyline with one of the main actor/actress falling sick and dying in the end, these are great shows that you should catch. They are still ongoing, so you gotta catch 1 episode per week. What I believe are elements of a good drama is when you see the main character growing and changing, learning something by the end of the show. If characters are one-dimensional, it's just too boring for 20 episoders. My criteria for GOOD dramas are: #1] The main leads starts off immature, are subjected to some kind of conflicting situations, are changed and transformed in their mentality, and becomes good or learnt their lessons by the end of the drama. #2] The storyline must be as unpredictable as possible, but still within the boundaries of realism. #3] There must be appropriate amount humour, and romance elements at appropriate times that would not risk the storyline as being classified 'sappy' and 'stereotypical'. Seriously, sometimes I just can't help but roll my eyes at certain scenes in a drama. The next thing I'd do is to fast forward that part, which is simply wasting my time. #4] The female lead must have a STRONG and TOUGH side. Roar. I mean seriously, too many dramas have portrayed females to be the damsel in distress. That is not an accurate representation of females in reality! Women are tougher than men think we are. And to all women, we are tougher than we think we are! 1) Cinderella's Sister (Korean) The female lead is my favorite actress, Moon Geun Young! She is talented at her young age. Very versatile actress...she starred in PERIOD dramas, acted as a GUY, did comedy and romance genres, and now, being portrayed as the baddie - evil step-sister! I tell you, this drama is great because of her acting, other than the good script. 2) Prosecutor Princess (Korean) I'm catching this drama mainly for the female lead, whom I am impressed with in her 2001 drama, All About Eve. It was THE uber hot drama in the early 2000s. She plays mainly baddies in dramas, and I look up to her acting. This drama portrays her as a rather ditzy character, with high IQ and is a prosecutor in Korea but is more passionate about fashion. I am hoping this drama can be one that impresses me...but its storyline still borders around something unrealistic. But still, the drama has done a good job in questioning the perceived absolute nature of certain social mores that we keep as a society. Good show because of that! ![]() (Source: http://www.viikii.net/channels/goto/ProsecutorMataHari#) 3) P.S Man (Taiwanese) Taiwanese dramas has the most unrealistic storylines in my opinion. But this one catches my attention because the male lead is the one going through a character transformation, from a selfish guy due to broken pasts, into a guy who finds back his true heart. ![]() (Source: http://www.viikii.net/channels/goto/MasterHeartrobberPSMan#) Labels: drama review 11:51 PM
