I watched the first half of the Shanghai World Expo Opening Ceremony on TV live, after dinner this evening. I don't know why, I felt so overwhelmed in my emotions hearing the Chinese Premier Hu Jing Tao giving his speech at opening the ceremony. Also before that, the speech given by the president of the World Expo committee, a French man. And before that, the speech given by the president of the Shanghai Expo committee. And before that, the raising of the 3 flags - China, World Expo, Shanghai World Expo. And the anthems that went along with them. And the flag barriers for all participating countries all around the world. And Lang Lang banging away on the piano creating beautiful music with the Chinese classical orchestra.

The deepest impression was the French man, who tried his best to speak Mandarin, translating into English as well as his native language, French. He seems too animated to be constrained to the pulpit for the delivery of a nice, proper speech like a proper penguin. And I love it. I see his vision, his excitement through his body language about this World Expo. And I become as excited as him about it.

Can you imagine North Korea having one pavilion in this Expo?

Can you imagine North & South Korea, having pavilions in the same place at the same time?

Can you imagine North, South & the US, having pavilions in the same place at the same time, without war or conflict?

To me, this World Expo means more than just showing off countries' newest technology, culture or history. It means literally, a vision of world peace. Global unity. I am an idealist, I know. But great accomplishments in history begins with a seed idea right? My ideal is that this world come together in true unity and be true advocates of world peace.

Because I know, one day, that is going to happen. Surely it will. May not be my generation, but in the next generation. If not, the one after. If not, the next one after. If not, the next one after the next one and the list goes on...

Let's see how I can contribute to that by my works instead of just being idealistic and all talks! I will make sure I will be part of the history of this revolution, sung or unsung. Hero or not.
