Work Life Balance Today the CEO talked about work-life balance briefly. His words made some sense to me. Let's just say that to understand the CEO's points, we must try to appreciate the heart behind his words. That's the only way I relate to the CEO, and I think it's the only way that makes life easier to handle when around him. He's not the nicest CEO around with his sarcastic remarks and curt words. But I know that I know - this is the Mr. CEO front of him, and that the real him at home or with his close friends is not like this. What is work life balance when your life is already balanced? There is nothing left to "balance" when your life is already "balanceD". And by that, "balanced" would probably describe the state of settlement in our comfort zone. Comfort zones gives a perceived sense of balance. But that isn't the way we should do life, really. Life is meant to be risky for the right things. Work-life balance can only be pursued by people whose lives are not in a balance. True? That is why they strive for a work-life balance. So is the term "work-life balance" something we should strive to achieve, or it is a term that can only be rightfully used by those whose lives are not balanced? Whatever the case, one thing's for sure - the term "work-life balance" hold a very different perspective for me now. Labels: career, contemplative 11:35 PM
