MY NAME

You ain't seeing it anywhere else

Ah.

I take special interest in listening to eulogies, because the eulogy deliverer is often someone whom is close and intimate with the dead person. They share things about the dead person in their speech, that few know about. The silent goodness which the person established while still alive is usually unsung until the point of eulogy delivery. It would be a pity to let the unsung be unsung forever.

I find attending funerals uplifting sometimes, because firstly I find out things about the dead person that I never would imagine. Secondly, funerals remind me of the importance of leaving a living legacy, which is kind of like a part of me is still living on Earth because of that legacy I have deliberately left to be here. It can be family members, friends, people I have touched that are here to attend my funeral.

I never felt a special affinity to read, understand or talk about MM Lee's wife, and even now I don't feel comfortable addressing her as Mrs Lee Kuan Yew even though that would be perfectly appropriate. She is so hidden behind the political scene as a perfect mother and wife, that I almost forgot her existence because it has always just been "MM Lee" anywhere and everywhere. It wasn't until recently when reports after reports are churning out accounts of the funeral and also stories of old Mrs Lee when she was still alive.

Well, honestly for me it was kind of refreshing to read about our MM in a new light....when reports write about his domestic life that were never really published in full force in the news. And to get to know how old Mrs Lee is like. It's very interesting to me how she is both a traditional and modern woman. Like, they got married SECRETLY??? What were they thinking....hahhaa. That was what I was thinking! And then, old Mrs Lee is traditional in that she wears cheongsam, so outwardly she is traditional. Inwardly she also is - the books and music she listen to, the values she impart to her children & grandchildren, etc.

I guess what I gather most about old Mrs Lee is her progressive spirit, and determination to not let physical barriers become a barrier to her enjoying life. She's amazing. And I gather even more about our MM Lee - that more than anyone else, he is a family man. I've always thought of him to be an eagle. But now, I realize the truth is indeed no man is without a woman who is supportive and loving towards their own husband.
